Contoh-contoh CV Dalam Bahasa Inggris

Saat melamar pekerjaan untuk suatu posisi atau jabatan tertentu, selain surat lamaran, Anda juga harus mengirimkan curriculum vitae (CV). Berasal dari bahasa Latin, istilah ini berarti “course of life” atau riwayat hidup.

CV adalah ringkasan yang agak panjang (sekitar dua halaman atau lebih) mengenai riwayat pekerjaan dan pendidikan yang pernah didapatkan. CV harus jelas, lengkap, dan up-to-date. Beberapa hal berikut bisa dimasukkan ke dalam CV, namun apa saja yang sebaiknya dicantumkan tentunya tergantung dari posisi yang dilamar. Pastikan untuk menyampaikan informasi yang relevan dengan pekerjaan yang Anda inginkan.

  • Informasi pribadi dan dimana saja Anda bisa dihubungi. Kebanyakan CV diawali dengan data pribadi, namun tidak perlu mencantumkan terlalu banyak detil yang tidak ada hubungannya dengan pekerjaan.
  • Pendidikan dan kualifikasi. Pastikan untuk memasukkan nama-nama sekolah dan institusi dan tanggal kelulusan Anda dalam urutan terbalik: Ph. D., Masters, Undergraduate, dst.
  • Riwayat dan pengalaman kerja. Ada banyak format penulisan urutan pekerjaan yang pernah dilakukan, namun yang paling umum adalah secara kronologis. Riwayat pekerjaan Anda sebaiknya dimulai dari yang paling akhir (reverse order), dan informasi atau penekanan harus lebih banyak disampaikan mengenai pekerjaan yang paling akhir pula.

Apa yang Tidak Perlu Ditulis Dalam CV

Tidak perlu mencantumkan jumlah gaji yang pernah didapat, alasan mengapa Anda keluar dari pekerjaan yang lama, atau referensi dari perusahaan yang lama. Surat referensi biasanya dilampirkan terpisah.

Seberapa Panjang kah CV Yang Layak?

Curriculum vitae idealnya adalah sepanjang dua hingga tiga halaman, namun untuk jabatan di tingkat menengah ke atas – terutama di bidang akademi dan medis, bisa lebih panjang dari itu. Pastikan agar isinya jelas, tertsruktur, dan relevan. Gunakan bullet points agar informasi lebih mudah dibaca dan dirunut.

Tips Menulis CV

Karena jaman sekarang CV sudah tidak lagi menggunakan tulisan tangan, maka empat faktir berikut sebaiknya Anda perhatikan.

1. Pilih jenis huruf (font) dan ukuran yang benar

Adalah penting bagi CV untuk mudah dibaca dan enak dilihat. Untuk itu, pastikan Anda menggunakan jenis huruf dan ukuran yang tepat.

Dua katergori huruf yang paling umum adalah serif dan sans-serif. Huruf serif (Times New Roman, Courier, Georgia) memiliki dekorasi kecil sementara sans-serif (Helvetica, Arial, Geneva) lebih sederhana. Lebih baik menggunakan sans-serif karena lebih mudah untuk dibaca.

Selain itu, gunakan ukuran huruf antara 10-12 points. Jangan mengorbankan ukuran huruf hanya karena ingin mengurangi jumlah halaman CV, karena yang lebih penting adalah jelas atau tidaknya tulisan yang ada di dalamnya.

2. Periksa margin

Pastikan untuk memeriksa ukuran margin dalam CV. Margin, atau jarak antara pinggiran kertas dengan tulisan, yang terlalu lebar akan menampilkan terlalu banyak ruang kosong dalam kertas. Sementara margin yang terlalu sempit akan membuat halaman terlihat terlalu penuh. Aturan yang baik untuk ukuran margin adalah sekitar 1-1.5 inchi.

3. Gunakan ruang secara efektif

CV bisa jadi cukup panjang, terutama jika Anda memiliki pengalaman kerja yang banyak. Pastikan untuk menggunakan spasi secara efektif agar CV mudah dibaca. Gunakan beberapa teknik berikut:

4. Proofread

Sebelum Anda akhirnya mengirimkan CV, selalu luangkan waktu untuk memeriksa ejaan, grammar dan sebagainya. CV yang bersih dan bebas dari kesalahan penulisan akan meningkatkan tampilan Anda sebagai seorang profesional.
