Contoh Percakapan Inggris di Perpustakaan

Pernahkah kamu berkunjung ke perpustakaan? Hampir dipastikan semua orang pasti pernah datang ke perpustakaan, untuk urusan apapun itu.
Sangat bervariasi, seperti meminjam atau mengembalikan buku, belajar, mencari bahan bacaan spesifik, belajar, dan lainnya. Nah, menarik untuk mengetahui contoh percakapan saat ada di perpustakaan.
Seperti biasa dalam artikel kali ini, kita akan memberikan beberapa contoh percakapan saat berada di perpustakaan. Let’s check it out!
Contoh – Meminjam Buku
A: “What do you need?”
B: “Could I check out this book?”
A: “Let me see your library card.”
B: “I need to get one.”
A: “You can apply for one right now, if you’d like.”
B: “Okay. Let me do that right now.”
A: “Could you fill out this application?”
B: “Sure. Here you go.”
A: “Could you please sign the back of the card?”
B: “All right.”
A: “That’s it.”
B: “Now may I check this book out?”
A: “Yes. In order to do so, please fill another form.”
B: “Right.”
Percakapan di atas terjadi antara pengunjung perpustakaan yang baru pertama kali datang dan ingin meminjam buku. Petugas perpustakaan kemudian memintanya untuk membuat kartu anggota serta mengisi formulir peminjaman buku.
Contoh 2 – Mengembalikan Buku
A: “What can I do for you today?”
B: “I need to return a book.”
A: “Can I do anything else for you?”
B: “I want to check this magazine out.”
A: “We don’t allow people to check out magazines. Just book.”
B: “Why not?”
A: “It’s the policy of our library.”
B: “So what am I allowed to check out?”
A: “You may check out books or videos.”
B: “Okay.”
Sementara contoh percakapan kedua menceritakan tentang seorang anggota yang ingin meminjam majalah namun tidak bisa diwujudkan karena bertentangan dengan kebijakan perpustakaan. Hanya buku dan video yang bisa dipinjam oleh anggota.
Contoh 3 – Terlambat Mengembalikan Buku
A: “Hello how may I help you?”
B: “I need to return these books.”
A: “Give them here.”
B: “Here they are.”
A: “It appears these books are two weeks late.”
B: “I forgot they were due, sorry.”
A: “You do realize you are going to have to pay late fee?”
B: “How much is the late fee?”
A: “The late fee is 25 cents a day.”
B: “So I have to pay 25 cents for each day the books are late?”
A: “It’s 25 cents for each book.”
B: “That shouldn’t be a problem. I will pay. It’s my responsibility.”
Pernahkah kamu terlambat mengembalikan buku ke perpustakaan? Contoh percakapan ketiga menceritakan tentang seorang anggota yang terlambat mengembalikan buku dan harus membayar denda sebanyak 25 sen per buku setiap harinya.
Contoh 4 – Mengembalikan & Meminjam Buku
A: “Excuse me, Sir. May I come in?”
B: “Yes, please! Come in.”
A: “I want to take some books.”
B: “You can’t take some books at the same moment. You can take only one book at a time.”
A: “I want Kalam’s Wings of Fire.”
B: “Let me check.”
A: “Is it available?”
B: “Yes, it is available.”
A: “Where is it?”
B: “It is in the third shelf in the extreme corner.”
A: “Shall I take the book?”
B: “Where is your old book?”
A: “Here it is.”
B: “What is the name of the book?”
A: “Shakespeare’s Hamlet.”
B: “What is the due date?”
A: “I think it is 25th April.”
B: “What is the date today?”
A: “Today is 27th April.”
B: “You must pay the fine then.”
A: “Sorry, Sir.”
B: “I can’t help you. I must follow the rules.”
A: “How much should I pay?”
B: “One dollar.”
A: “Here is the money, Sir.”
B: “Alright. Take the book.”
A: “Shall I ask you one more thing, Sir?”
B: “Yes, please.”
A: “What are the newspapers available here?”
B: “All the newspapers are available here.”
A: “Thank you so much, Sir.”
Dialog keempat lebih panjang, melibatkan seorang anggota yang ingin meminjam buku baru setelah mengembalikan buku yang lama. Sebelumnya dia ingin meminjam lebih dari satu buku namun mustahil karena hanya bisa meminjam satu buku pada waktu yang sama. Terlihat di tengah dialog bahwa penjaga perpustakaan memberi tahu lokasi buku yang diinginkan yaitu di rak bagian ketiga. Selain itu, di bagian akhir juga ada dialog tentang denda keterlambatan pengembalian buku.
Contoh 5 – Rekomendasi Buku
A: “Hello, how are you?”
B: “I am good. Actually I was searching for a book.”
A: “What kind of book are you searching for?”
B: “An excellent English language book. From which I can get new vocabulary words and basically pronunciation practice for long words.”
A: “You can go through Charles Dickens and John Milton’s books. There you can get vocabulary and pronunciation practice.”
B: “In which section can I get those books?”
A: “You can get those books in the literature section.”
B: “Can I get them issued for a month?”
A: “Yes, you can. Do you want to get both the books issued at the same time?”
B: “Yes.”
A: “For that you need to get a membership card issued for yourself. That card will permit you can get 2-3 books simultaneously.”
B: “Is it mandatory?”
A: “For issuing more than one book at a time, yes.”
B: “Do I have to pay something for that?”
A: “Yes, 100,000 rupiah for 6 months. And for reissue, it will be only 20,000 for 6 months.”
B: “Ok. Please issue me a membership card.”
A: “Sure. There you go.”
B: “Thanks a lot.”
Contoh percakapan terakhir melibatkan konsultasi tentang buku apa yang sebaiknya dipinjam oleh murid tersebut. Sang pustakawan menyarankan buku tertentu lengkap dengan informasi di dalamnya. Artinya, percakapan di perpustakaan juga bisa mencakup hal-hal seperti konsultasi buku apa yang perlu dipinjam oleh anggotanya.
